Nernst — my problem child equation
Nernst equation.
I am trying to build a bridge between neuroscience and computer science. Have studied both.
Long-term goal:
Neuroscience is about understanding human brain function, in temporal (time-wise) and structural manner. If neuroscience was to reach a grand unified theory level understanding, we would perhaps be close to be narrowed in to a swiss clockwork level machinery. So I think that we are lucky if neuroscience will not be perfected up to that level.
There are methods to investigate even a living brain, while providing the subject tasks to accomplish. MEG measures signal sources on the surface of the cortex (ie. on the surface of your head). MRI measures the insides of the brain: what matter lies there, what kind of structures these are making up? There are known named regions in the brain. Some of these are well-localized:
- Broca’s area
- hippocampus Memory and the Hippocampus and What happens when you remove the hippocampus? — Sam Kean
- amygdala — giving emotional meaning for things encountered
Computer science has grown from a field where program organization, the craft of making software, and nowadays perhaps more the questions of limits of what computers and software can do, are being investigated.
Computer science lives out of the craft of people interested in advancing now a very mature field.
